Creating Edges with Photoshop
Photos become more interesting when added with soft edge effects that make it look more dreamy or dramatic. These effects provide interesting detail to every photograph or amazing digital art and it is not difficult to do. In this article I will show you just how to create an interesting edge treatment to an important photo that you may have. You can also save the effects for future use.
Let us start with the most basic effect — the soft foggy white effect. You commonly notice pictures on ads, magazines and webpages having soft white borders. It adds a little touch of drama to the images which makes it more pleasing to the eyes. To do the effect, Open your image then select the Rectangle Marquee Tool. Make a selection inside the image where you want the effect to begin. After doing so, go to Select — Feather and then add a large feather to the image. Go to Layer — New Layer then click OK. Go to Select — Inverse to your selection. Fill the selection with White using the Paint Bucket tool. Click CNTRL + D to remove the selection marquee, you’re done. You can also use other colors aside from White or Black using the Eyedropper tool.
