Knowing the Shadow Highlight Tool

One amazing tool after another, Photoshop Creative Suit 2 is probably the most functional editing software anyone can get. And the tool that particularly gives that impression on me is the Shadow/Highlight tool. Of course, the term has no double meaning, the name speaks for itself so it’s pretty easy to understand what’s it for. The tool lets you work more on the dark and light parts of your image. In short, if you’re a talented budding photographer and you get poor capture most of the time, this image editing tool can resurrect your images and breathe new life to them.

When do you exactly use the Shadow/Highlight tool? Well, it goes well with images that have been poorly underexposed to get the important details as well as with correcting overexposed images. In addition, it can also be used specifically with images having strong contrasts which have distracting shadows to make them more subtle or pleasing to the eye. The tool can be accessed via the Image menu : Image — Adjustments –Shadow/Highlight. In your first time of using the tool, the default settings will be presented and in most cases you will achieve dramatic changes in your image, so you have to study the tool to make the necessary adjustments.
