The beauty of nature is very much characterized in dramatic pictures that we see in books, magazines and the Internet. One of the hardest to capture is lightning but when you see the outcome, you’ll be amazed just how beautiful this natural display can be. But, put aside the beauty that it has, capturing lightning in photographs can be really dangerous. Did you know that lightning temperature is even hotter than the surface of the sun? If it’s hot then it could be potentially fatal once it hits you.

But if you want to get up close to a lightning, why not try creating one at home? I mean it, you can make a lightning all your own — using Adobe Photoshop. With Photoshop you can easily create simple lightning effects no sweat.

Here’s how to do that lightning trick. First open a new file with white background and at least 400 x 400 pixels. Then set your foreground color to white and background color to black. Next, go to FILTER – RENDER – CLOUDS. Go to Image – Adjustments – Levels. Lastly, go to Image – Adjustments – Color Balance. The good thing about this trick is that you can play with it until you achieve the best desired lightning effect.
