Pop Art in Photoshop
Roy Lichtenstein’s work was the epitome of pop art. Many people are acquainted with his work especially those who are fans of pop art. Some of his more famous works were Drowning Girl in 1963 and Whaam! also in 1963. His artworks make use of thick outlines, bold colors, and Benday dots to represent certain colors, that looks like they have been created by photographic production. The Benday dots are Lichtenstein’s brainchild. These dots make use of a painting technique which combines two or more small, colored dots to create a third color. This effect is commonly used in comic books and newspaper ads.
With Photoshop, anyone can create a pop art a la Roy Lichtenstein. You need only your creativity and of course the Color Halftone filter that can be found in Photoshop. If you want it black and white than that’s also possible. Halftone filters simulate a variety of halftone screens, to mirror the halftone process used in print media or comic books. The great thing about this style is that it adds texture to your images and a bit of character as well.
