When Adobe released the 6th version of their amazing editing software, Photoshop fans were all agog. And why not, Photoshop 6 offers some of the best features for a software like it. New text and shape tools, vector drawing tools, and an expanded web tool kit can boost your creativity. In addition, the version also includes text warping and image distortion tools that you can use to experiment on images. One of these tools is the Liquify Command.

The liquify command lets users explore their weird artistic side by making images that look more strange than aesthetic. Using the image-warping and distortion tools in the feature, you can warp, twirl, pucker and bloat an image or create reflection. Anything goes as long as you’re not distorting your mom’s face.

Open the image that you want to distort. For a more flexible output after adding the distortion, you can create a duplicate layer of the image by selecting Layer – New – Layer via Copy. Then Select Image – Liquify. When the Liquify dialog box pops up, choose the distortion box that you want to use. Using the brush you have chosen, paint in the image to create a desired distortion. You can likewise use the Reconstruct tool to paint out the distortion. If you want to create a more interesting result, try using other filters after the image has been distorted.
